Various Verses from the Book of Proverbs

4:20-23   My son, pay attention to what I say;

turn your ear to my words.

Do not let them out of your sight,

keep them within your heart;

for they are life to those who find them

and health to one’s whole body.

Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.

14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,

turning a person from the snares of death.

14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body,

but envy rots the bones.

3:1-2 My son, do not forget my teaching,

but keep my commands in your heart;

for they will prolong your life many years

and bring you peace and prosperity.

3:21-22 My son, do not let wisdom and

understanding out of your sight,

preserve sound judgement and discretion;

they will be life for you,

an ornament to grace your neck.

15:24                 The path of life leads upward for the prudent

to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.

6:20-23             My son, keep your father’s command

and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

Bind them always on your heart;

fasten them round your neck.

When you walk, they will guide you;

when you sleep, they will watch over you;

when you awake, they will speak to you.

For this command is a lamp,

this teaching is a light,

and correction and instruction

are the way to life.

7:1-2 My son, keep my words

and store up my commands within you.

Keep my commands and you will live;

guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

12:28 In the way of righteousness there is life;

along that path is immortality.

14:32 When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down,

but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.
