We have live music at most of our services at St George’s, ranging from a full modern band to a more simple instrument and voice.
With a number of different music leaders, supported by a gifted group of musicians and singers, we seek to keep our worship fresh and engaging.
From a practical perspective we meet every Tuesday night in the church to share fellowship together, whilst practicing arrangements for upcoming services and also continually adding new songs to our wide-ranging repertoire.
We have an extended Worship Team which includes audio and visual operators, plus signers for some services.
If you have any comments or want to understand more on this topic please contact our Music Group Co-Ordinator, Andy Davenport.
In 2020, following generous giving from the congregation plus support from the Diocese, we installed a state of the art sound system plus a custom-built enclosed platform for the operators to run the audio visuals for our services. The sound system includes a fully programmable digital sound desk, high quality ceiling-mounted speakers and a stage box, also enabling non-broadcast talkback communication between the music leader and other band members plus the audio visual operators. The desk can be operated remotely from an App and the music group members control their own foldback levels using a dedicated App and In-Ear monitors. Music can be played back from CD, USB stick or Bluetooth connected devices and sermons are recorded directly from the desk for upload to the website. We are also currently only starting to unlock the potential of Worship Tools, which connects together service planning, song chords for music group members and projected words and other multimedia for the congregation.
